Some notes from awhile ago I came across. Not sure if they are still relevant.
- city is the place to investigate global society – how define city – how large or small – very true
- ‘urban patch’ – deciphering hidden logic in ways to construct city
- is a city in crisis or is only part of a city ion crisis?
- transform : dont simply replace
This is quite interesting. I know that there is a global phenomena of ‘reclaiming the streets’, but this graphic suggests at something quite provocative. The definitions are a great addition and something I think I will incorporate into my thesis presentation.
At first glance the background image was a map of the world, after five times of staring at it, I just realized that it is something quite different.
Any more on where this came from besides the graphic?

Temporary Outdoor Structures for the Festival of Ideas for a New City
The Festival of Ideas for a New City is a major new collaborative initiative between scores of downtown organizations, from large universities to arts groups and community organizations, working together to affect change. The Festival is a first for New York and will demonstrate the power of the creative community to imagine the city of the future. The Festival will serve as a platform for artists, architects, designers, and other thought leaders to exchange ideas, propose solutions, create new problems, and invite the public to participate in improving urban life.
